Proof that Webyog has some very handy tools to offer is to be found in the large number of 2.5+ million users who use the company’s products to efficiently manage, monitor, and optimize their databases. You see, Webyog provides best-of-breed data management tools for managing popular open-source databases. And more to the point, the company has two main products to offer: SQLyog (a MySQL manager and admin tool meant for developers) and MONyog (a tool meant to help database admins manage more MySQL servers).

MONyog is available for Microsoft Windows operating system and for the popular open-source Linux operating system. To get MONyog up and running on a windows-powered machine, you will have to go through a standard setup procedure: download a 9.8MB executable, run it, click through the steps presented by a setup wizard. The nice thing is that you will be done with the installation process in very little time.

MONyog does not have an interface of its own: it opens in your default web browser. After you log in, you will be presented with MONyog’s monitors, tools, customization options, and so on. As mentioned above, MONyog is meant for DBAs – since they are not exactly novice computer users, they’ll have no problems getting accustomed to the interface of MONyog.

From a functionality point of view, you can expect MONyog to help you manage MySQL servers, fine tune your MySQL servers, and fix problems that affect MySQL database applications. A quick look at MONyog’s main features should better put things in perspective: no need to install agents (agentless and cloud ready), more than 600 monitors that provide timely alerts and advice, custom SQL objects, full customization using JavaScript, trend analysis, query analyzer, query sniping, error log monitoring, configuration management, replication manager, disk monitoring, WayBack Machine, real-time monitoring.

You have 30 days at your disposal to test MONyog and evaluate its functionality. Once the trial period is over, you will have to get a license to keep using MONyog. There are three types of licenses to choose from: Professional, Enterprise, Ultimate.

Real-time monitoring of MySQL servers and other powerful features are offered by MONyog.

Pros

MONyog is available for Windows and Linux. The application does not need an agent. MONyog helps you more efficiently monitor MySQL servers and fix problems. There are more than 600 monitors to choose from. There are three license types.

Cons

30-day trial; nag screen.
